For many individuals, the bond with an animal provides comfort, stability, and emotional healing. Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) can play a vital role in managing mental health challenges. At RWR Counseling and Consulting, we offer professional evaluations and, when clinically appropriate, provide ESA letters that meet legal and housing requirements.
ESA services offered:
- Comprehensive Evaluation: A licensed clinician will meet with you to assess your mental health needs and determine whether an ESA is an appropriate part of your treatment plan.
- ESA Letter Writing: If clinically indicated, we provide a formal letter that documents your need for an ESA, written in compliance with federal housing guidelines and professional standards.
- Guidance & Education: We help you understand the role of ESAs, your rights under the Fair Housing Act, and the responsibilities of animal ownership.
Please note:
ESAs are distinct from service animals - they offer comfort but are not trained for specific tasks. Letters are provided only after a thorough evaluation and when an ESA is deemed clinically beneficial in conjunction with on-going mental health therapy. The evaluation process is not completely covered by insurance and takes a minimum of 30 day based on Louisiana state law.
